About the Charity
The charity exists to make a positive difference for individuals with Down syndrome in East Midlands. We do this by working with the individuals, families and the professionals involved in their development.
About our work
Down's Syndrome-Derby has existed for almost twenty years - first as a branch of the National Downs Syndrome Association and more recently as a registered charity in it's own right.
The group adopts an holistic approach to support and welcomes children and adults with Down's Syndrome, their parents and carers, siblings, extended families and professionals working within the health and education sectors.
Our activities are widespread and numerous and include the provision of a listening ear and reassurance for new parents; the opportunity for children to develop through play at our monthly parent and child group; the purchase of specialist resources for health visitors and support teachers to use with our families; picnics and parties for every one to come together and share positive experiences as well as raising awareness of challenges to come.
The list goes on and on................
